I liked Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo! I hadn’t read any of her earlier works and the premise of this book intrigued me so I downloaded the audible version and listened on my commute to work.
I will admit I had a hard time getting into the book. so much so that I almost returned it. But I persevered and I’m glad I did. I love memorable lines from a book and Six of Crows had two:
“No funerals, no mourners” and
“The deal is the deal” I especially love this one. Get used to me saying it.
So Kaz puts together this ragtag crew to do an impossible heist. Even though this crew is full of misfits and criminals, sometimes they fall for the okeydoke (which I TOTALLY didn’t see coming) but they always manage to come out all right.
After you get used to the language and the world Bardugo has built, it works. I won’t tell you what happens with the heist but there is a cliff hangerish ending so you know you’ll hafta get book TWO to see what happens to your fave thieves.
I don’t generally follow through on series, but I might have to with this one.
The deal is the deal, right?
