How the Queen Found the Perfect Cup of Tea

How the Queen Found the Perfect Cup of Tea

I love finding a book that combines my fave things: children and tea! If you’ve been around a minute you’ll know that I host literary themed tea parties for kids. You can imagine how excited I was to learn that there was a book called How the Queen Found the Perfect Cup of Tea by Kate Hosford and Gabi Swiatkowska that involved a queen wearing a tiara.

Why is  a queen wearing a crown so important? Why else? This gives me a chance to share the book with my friends during a story time video on YouTube. You can’t tell in the video but I’m totally wearing my tutu.

Wasn’t this a great story? The queen learned to make tea AND how to become a friend. I love love love love this book; so many teachable moments.

I have a YouTube channel where I read books to kids; maybe you’ll find a story that you like. Check out An Unconventional Librariantube!

Don’t have time to visit YouTube? No worries, you can check out my videos here on An Unconventional Librarian. Just click over to 070 New Media: Videos.  Let Pammy Pam read to the  kiddos by watching a video or two!

Western Tea Party

Yee haw! Recently we hosted a tea party for all my fave buckaroos! I grabbed my tutu, shined up my cowperson boots, and topped it all off with my sheriff’s hat.  As Leah said: we had a rootin tootin tea! Take a look at some of the pics.

The little cowpokes that came were dressed so adorably I almost screamed.  The book, Cowboy Camp was so fun: it’s a bout a little feller who goes to camp but doesn’t like the food and is allergic to the animals but somehow manages to defeat the bad guy (Black Bart. Not real happy with that name but that’s another conversation)!

My partner, Leah, is so creative and I had a durn good time practicing my Texas accent and trying not to slip and fall in my boots. How DO cowboys walk in those things? My dogs were barking at the end of the party!

I know y’all are dying to see me in my get up, aren’t ya?

Here t’is.

Sheriff Pam

See ya’ll next time!

Tea Parties @Townebookcenter Enchanted Woodland Tea

We had so much fun at this Enchanted Woodland Tea party.  All the kids in attendance were related somehow so they were more at ease than our usual partygoers which opened them up for more fun!

Let’s take a look:

Tea Parties in January @Townebookcenter Superheros!

Winter is here and I’m never too far from a book, a hot cup of coffee, or a cup of tea! on the weekends, I’m still busy busy busy hosting tea parties for my young bookish friends.

One fun day we hosted a birthday party for a super fantastic little guy we met the Grinch Tea Party in November. This lil guy was turning 5 and wanted to be Darth Vader. So we whipped up our magic and everyone came as Superheroes or Supervillans!

Tea with Santa at Towne Book Center

Not long ago we had the pleasure of hosting a tea party for SANTA!!

TeawithSanta Collage

It was so much fun: we made picture frame crafts, played “Guess That Holiday Tune”, and stuck the 12 Days of Christmas on the tree.

The best surprise of all was when Santa arrived!

The kids didn’t make a peep while he read Twas the Night Before Christmas“!

I even got my picture taken with Santa!

Do you take your holiday photos with Santa?

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Tea Party

We recently hosted a Grinch Tea Party to celebrate Small Business Saturday. The party was so much fun that I forgot to take photos of the kids making their crafts and playing games! Author Kit Grindstaff read How the Grinch Stole Christmas to the little partygoers.  Here’s a collage of some of the revelry.

And of course, we had a visit from The Grinch!

Find Your Tribe at a CHIMA party!

We recently hosted a Chima party for an incredibly sweet little guy turning 7. Tired of all the princess parties, we jumped at the chance to try something different, enter the CHIMA!

I am now well versed in Chima lore and am certain that before coffee, I belong to Crunket’s tribe of crocodiles.  How fun is Chima in that there are roles for boys AND girls? Wondering if I could get someone to make me some cool Eris wings for when I need a break from my fairy wings?

But I digress. Check out these fun pics from a super fun Chima party!

chima Collage

During the Chima party, we drank sweet Chi (tea!), searched for missing orbs, played pin the sword on Laval, guess the Chima character, and decorated our swords. During the manners lesson we had to reinstate our “No Weapons At The Table” rule like we did with the pirates.

It was fun.  What have you done for your fave Chima kid?
