We recently hosted a Grinch Tea Party to celebrate Small Business Saturday. The party was so much fun that I forgot to take photos of the kids making their crafts and playing games! Author Kit Grindstaff read How the Grinch Stole Christmas to the little partygoers. Here’s a collage of some of the revelry.
Friends, you may not know this, but I’m a mama. I’m a mama of a college student. And while we love to buy books around here, the kinds of books we don’t really love to buy are overpriced college textbooks. And since I finished my master’s degree a few years ago, I remember the sting of $200 textbooks per class. #1 son is smarter than his mama, however, and has learned to save his money and RENT his textbooks rather than BUY them!
He’s so smart and I’m so proud of him.
One way you can rent textbooks is through a program called Campus Book Rentals. Renting textbooks has many benefits:
save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
free shipping both ways
can highlight in the textbooks
flexible renting periods
donation to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
How great is that? Did you notice the donation to Operation Smile? That’s one of the charities I personally support, which I think is important so I love that my son can save money renting textbooks and a child can get safe, quality surgical care. It’s win win!
Another great option at Campus Book Rentals is their Rent Back program; students rent textbooks they already own, allowing them to earn more money than they would if they sold the book back to the bookstore (or kept it). Yep, you heard me right: earn money!
Here’s another great video:
Genius, I tell ya!
I wished this kind of thing was available years ago, I know you’ll want to take advantage of this money saving program, especially since prices will only be going up!
Renting textbooks makes me want to go back to school (again!) to get my PhD and then you could call me Dr. Pammy!
I stumbled across this piece from Entertainment Weekly which reminded me of Toy Story. Everyone wonders what toys do when their owners are not around, right? They come to life and lead fascinating lives with interesting adventures. The video below is similar only it involves books.
What do books in a bookstore do when the lights are out?
