Multicultural Children’s Book Day Book Review

ByPam

It’s with great honor that I celebrate Multicultural Children’s Book Day January 27th!

MCBookDay-21 (1)

You know that I’m about bringing books to kids that feature a character who looks like them.  Isn’t it great that there are others who believe this too?  That’s why I’m thrilled to be partner with PragmaticMom.com and JumpIntoABook.com for Multicultural Children’s Book Day!  The full name of this event is Multicultural Children’s Book Day: Celebrating Diversity in Children’s Literature and we’d like the name and the tagline used together whenever possible. The co-creators of this unique event are Mia Wenjen from Pragmatic Mom and Valarie Budayr from Jump Into a Book/Audrey Press.

Mission: Despite census data that shows 37% of the US population consists of people of color, only 10% of children’s books published have diversity content. Using the Multicultural Children’s Book Day, Mia and Valarie are on a mission to change all of that. Their mission is to not only raise awareness for the kid’s books that celebrate diversity, but to get more of these types of books into classrooms and libraries. Another goal of this exciting event is create a compilation of books and favorite reads that will provide not only a new reading list for the winter, but also a way to expose brilliant books to families, teachers, and libraries.

Isn’t that great?  I’ve partnered with Sleeping Bear Press to share two absolutely FABULOUS books with you.  Check out my video review:

Don’t those books sound adorbs?

What a great day January 27th will be, because there will be a linky at PragmaticMom.com and Jumpintoabook.com so that you can follow all of the fabulous book reviews!   It wouldn’t be possible without the following fabulous sponsors:
