Inked by Eric Smith and a Tattoo Party!

Let’s get INKED!!

You know how art imitates life and how sometimes life imitates art?

What’s up with that? Well I was thinking the other day, and I hit on a truth. My revelation was inspired by reading Inked. Here’s a blurb from the book:

And in a world where Ink controls your fate, Caenum can’t escape soon enough. He is ready to run from his family, and his best friend Dreya, and the home he has known, just to have a chance at a choice…

only to discover that fate is more than skin deep.

See what that says there? That your fate is more than skin deep. Why is that so important? Because it’s a lesson our hero learns in the book. Everyone must get their tattoos so they can take their place in society and see what their occupations are going to be.  Kinda like the sorting hat for the Tattoorati. But it makes me wonder whether you get to select your occupation or does the occupation select you?

Things that make you go hmmmmm?

I can’t tell you whether our hero gets inked or not but I can tell you that the story had me on my feet until the very last page.

As if that isn’t enough to think about, I started a tattoo party over on my pinterest board. Here’s the link. Makes me want to get a tattoo.

Or another one.

There are a few curse words in this book but nothing they haven’t heard before. It’s suitable for older middle grades, too, I think.

What would your occupational tattoo be?

Mine?

Obvious.
