The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake

ByPam

When food goes missing on Ed’s farm, Detectives Wilcox and Griswold do what it takes to track down the thieves. In this case, Miss Rabbit’s carrot cake has disappeared. Has it been stolen? Or eaten? Or both? Who dunnit?

If you’ve been around here enough you’ll know that I love books with animals as the main characters. Even the youngest readers love to imagine that animals really can talk. And who are we fooling? We know animals communicate! What’s especially fun about books with talking animals is that they are politically correct. The child reader doesn’t have to worry with whether the protagonist is the same race or gender as they are. Or even whether they wear clothes or not! Although I totally prefer animals who wear clothes; that’s why I love Geronimo Stilton.

Speaking of animals, here’s a fun one for early middle grade readers: The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake.

This is film noir for the younger set. Who’s going to investigate when Miss Rabbit’s cake goes missing? Certainly not that bumbling pink panther thing. It’s Detective Wilcox, Missing Food Investigator, on the carrot cake case.

And as if this mystery isn’t juicy enough, there’s a yummy carrot cake recipe that readers can use to recreate.

Twice the fun; all the yum.
