Armageddon: Pick Your Plot aka How Many Interesting Ways Can You Die? by AJ Lauer & Daniel Keidel

ByPam

I had so much fun reading Armageddon: Pick Your Plot.  It’s a game book that you read over and over and over. There are so many different and interesting ways to die that I’m beginning to think I’m invincible.  I have a pretty strong zombie apocalypse team and I think after practicing dying a few hundred times in this book, I’m ready for anything!

What’s a game book you ask? A game book is just like what it sounds. It’s a game. It’s a book.  Rather than reading a boring old story straight through, game books are genius ideas, especially for reluctant readers or for those who don’t have the patience to sit down to a 700 page tome.

Armageddon will take you through the zombie apocalypse while channeling Ready Player One or The Walking Dead. But for a younger audience.  To be sure, there is still some teenage angst and a bit of romance (maybe an icky kissing scene or two) but if you stick around long enough you might just save the Earth.

And how cool is that?

Brush up on your intergalactic knowledge or at the very least the names of the planets in the solar system.  And if you don’t like the way you die in this chapter, stick around, another more interesting death might await you. I, for example, died quite quickly in the first three chapters.  So, much like Parzival in Ready Player One, I started at the beginning and tried my luck again.  Too bad North Korea didn’t like one of my suggestions.

Best of all, the main character is a female! How many geeky sci fi books have a female protagonist?

All the woot for this book.

Armageddon: Pick your Plot. And if you see the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, run like crazy.

Have you ever read a choose your own ending book? Drop the title here so I can enjoy it too!
