I am currently reading The Silent Boy by Lois Lowry. I have only read one other book by Lowry, which was Number the Stars and that story was equally enjoyable. So far, The Silent Boy is a tale about a young girl growing up at the beginning of the 20th century. She befriends a boy who doesn’t speak. I like the girl’s sensitivity to the boy’s “disability” although back then it was not called a disability. He was called names like imbecile and “touched”. Looking forward to seeing the book to the end!
