Son by Lois Lowry Take Control of Your TBR Pile

Take Control

Well it’s Monday and I’m still working through my TBR pile!  This past weekend, Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer had a read a thon but i just couldnt hang with it.  I guess my eyes are bigger than my stomach, as my mum used to say.

Anyway, I’ve just finished reading Son by Lois Lowry, and can I tell you I LOVED IT!!!!

Son Unconventional Librarian

In case you don’t know, Son is the last in The Giver quartet: The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son.  I’ve had this copy since last summer at BEA and I couldn’t wait to get to it and thought for sure I’d find time to read the first three books.  Fast forward to now.  I picked up the book and thought I’d struggle with following the story, you know how a series can be!

Not to be a spoiler, but here’s the basic premise: there’s this utopian (secretly dystopian) society, that is alarmingly similar to Handmaid’s Tale, but for children (think MG and older) in which everyone has a certain job to do and no one complains about how monotonous their lives are.  We meet a new heroine, Claire, who somehow escapes this utopia and falls into another world, reuniting characters from previous books.  Claire goes on a journey to find the answers to some questions.  Vague, I know, but I don’t wanna spoil it!

Run to your nearest bookstore or library and read this book TODAY.

So, I’m gonna keep on keeping on with Kimba and the Challenge.

This sounds really good..and I love dystopian books in general. I am glad you are sticking with me. I offered to unleash my hellhounds on anyone who needed extra motivation. *snarls* You OK?

I’m stopping by today from the A to Z challenge. Congrats on signing up! Good luck. This is my first year with the A to Z challenge, even though I’ve watched it grow over the last 3 years. I’m also taking part in the Reveal on the 21st. I’m trying to share some positivity with my #WriteMotivation friends on Twitter (and to help keep me positive in the process)
Hope to see you around 🙂

The Giver is one of my all time favorite books. I just purchased Gathering Blue after reading about the quartet sequel on your site … I have added it to my to read list but my list is very long :/
